How did I get here?

Jared proposed Christmas morning 2007, and we were married the following January. However before the big day I started working weekends to save money for the wedding, and then after the wedding I did the same thing from Feb to June when we moved here to Austin saving money for the move. Working weekends I got poor sleep and was eating crappy vending machine foods!

When we moved here to Austin I joined some Meet-up groups to try and meet new people here in this awesome city, and to get to know different things to do here. In one group I participated in a "boot-camp" workout on Town Lake ( now called Lady Bird Lake-whatever) at Auditorium Shores. Let's just saw I felt so embarrassed, and very out of shape. I almost died doing burpees for the first time. I remember just being very frustrated with myself. I wasn't even 30 yet, but I felt like and looked like I was 55 compared to the other people in the group.

During this time Jared purchased Insanity. I had also seen him try P90X that he had borrowed from a USMC buddy. At the time I thought he was crazy, and those were ridiculous programs. In 2010, I started to try and eat healthier, or so I thought, and I started doing 5Ks and even did my first half marathon with my friend Alyson ( who would later get me involved with Beachbody programs and coaching.) I thought I was getting somewhere, right?? But I was still at my heaviest at 190lbs. Then in November 2010 I found out I was pregnant with my son.

I struggle with weight loss after having my son, and decided to dig out that crazy Insanity workout I thought Jared had wasted money on the previous year. I did the WHOLE series the summer Louis was a baby. I only got down to 190 again. I kept going to my primary to get my thyroid and hormone levels checked. WHY wasn't I LOSING weight!!! She suggested I change exercise types. I then started PUMP ( body pump at gyms). I did tine some, but still struggled with weight. I started to focus more on my nutrition along with the workouts and in December 2013 I was down to 180lbs.

In March 2014, I found I was pregnant with my daughter and I was already back to 190lbs. After she was born I was looking at pictures from her Baptism in Feb 2015. I was so disgusted in how I looked, and I thought I would not do this 2 year struggle all over again!

I had heard about the diet Ideal Protein a few times over the last 3 or so years. I had started looking into for Jared, but then I thought MAYBE I need this for myself! It was the best decision, and a lot of money that I have ever spent. It was what I needed to completely changed my life. I lost a little over 70lbs on the diet and ended at 144lbs. Prior to IP I had never really eaten veggies, and never cared to either, but now I enjoy them and have some I still need to try. IP gave me the challenge I needed to learn how to eat correctly and be healthy!

I have gained some weight back, and I am currently at 160lbs with the goal to get to 150lbs, but the difference now is I have great workout programs to choose from AND I have learned to eat better to go with them so my workouts actually WORK for my body! Prior to the 2nd pregnancy I had bought T25 and Insanity Max 30. MAX30 is proving to kick my butt too! That first workout after IP and doing MAX 30, all I could think was "Oh, WOW, this is how it feels to eat right, exercise, and get results!"

So some big things I have learned in the last 6 years:
1. Veggies matter
2. Proper diet matters, and junk food makes you feel awful in workouts
3. protein is important
4. There is ALWAYS time, ALWAYS make time for yourself!
5. meal planning is key
6. Never give up, never quit

This post is a bit long, but I hope it makes you all feel you are not along in the battle! Feel free to contact me for coaching!
